We are one of the biggest and best climbing facilities in the world, providing significant advantages to the athletes who train and climb here.
At The Front, youth athletes come to discover, learn, and inevitably fall in love with climbing.
Climbing is a community centered sport. As such, climbing teams and athletes nationwide see sportsmanship and comradery as paramount. At national events, competitors genuinely cheer for one another and encourage each athlete to do their very best. Athletes are not competing against one another per se. Rather, they are all collectively competing against the unique challenge laid out before them on the wall. Climbing is a sport that can feel as competitive or laid back as the athlete desires.
Living along the Wasatch Front provides unique experiences for young climbers. Utah is home to some of the best climbing resources in the world, indoors and out. From the technical granite test-pieces of Little Cottonwood Canyon, to the newly established USA Climbing Training Facility in downtown Salt Lake, the climbing opportunities here are world-class. This, coupled with Salt Lake City’s long and rich history of groundbreaking climbing achievements, competitions, and industry advancements, makes the city the premiere destination for those looking to pursue competitive climbing objectives. The Comp Team is an avenue for athletes to deepen their appreciation and understanding of advanced climbing skills. Such skills include on-sight and redpoint climbing, motor skills – including the initiation and timing of climbing’s complex movements – and emotional skills, such as staying calm in demanding high-pressure situations.
The coaching staff makes use of tools such as video analysis to help team members be successful in these areas. The team also engages in sport-specific training so that they are technically, emotionally, and athletically prepared for the unique challenges of climbing. We love seeing these gifted athletes develop and grow as people!
