Members always earn 10% back in Member Bennies on full priced, retail purchases over $15. This excludes food and drink, but includes all the good stuff like shoes, ropes, yoga mats, and more! Every month, we double down and offer 30% back on one category of goods we think is extra special. See what we’ve got cooking this month, and get your extra 20% back!
When you do cool stuff in the facility, like taking a class or earning a belay tag, you earn a badge in Pebble. Some of these come with Member Bennies! Any badge in Pebble with the gold “Badge Bounty” banner earns you cash back to spend in our shop.
Badges that are colorful have already been earned, while badges that are grey are fair game to get bounty hunting on! Click any badge to see a full description, badge name, Member Bennies value, and steps to earn. Some of our favorite Badge Bounties include…
See all the badges in Pebble Climbing by navigating to the “More” tab in the Pebble Climbing app. Not seeing badges or your Member Bennies? Link your account to get access to your rewards.
We’re always looking for new Bennies to add. We’ll share new Bennies on Pebble every time we add to the list.
Earn Member Bennies by tracking your climbs in Pebble! Anytime you attempt or send a route or problem, track your progress in app. You might end up…
Head in to any Front location and see what catches your eye. Bennies can be spent on anything in our Gear Shop, online class calendars, or Day Use menu.
Protein powder? New shoes? Punch card to spend on your besties? A cool new yoga workshop? Summer Camp for your kiddos? You got it.
Roll up to the Desk with Pebble in tow and show us your Bennies! Let our friendly Gym Staff know you’ve got some Bennies to spend, and they’ll handle the rest. Ball out and spend all of them at once or spend Bennies along the way to make every purchase a deal. It’s up to you, boo!
Finish the transaction! Bennies do not cover sales tax, so if you’re the Primary Account holder paying all the bills, we can add the tax to your tab. If you’re a secondary, tertiary, or additional kid on a membership, bring a credit card to cover sales tax.
Anyone with an active Front Climbing Club membership earns Member Bennies. This includes:
This does not include Punch Card holders, those on a Guest Pass, or folks on a Day Pass.
Bennies are earned and redeemed based on the purchaser selected in our point-of-sale system and the final “payer” of the bill. It’s why we ask your name every time you make a purchase!
If a purchase is invoiced to a user’s account or added to their rolling tab of charges, the sale is attributed to the primary account holder. They’re paying the bill, so they get the Bennies! This is true when both earning and redeeming Bennies. If you invoice a redemption to your account, Bennies will be removed from the primary account holder.
All that to say, to keep your Bennies separated and organized, if you are not the billing member (i.e. couple add-on or kid!), always finish purchases with a credit card. This is true for the remaining sales tax on Bennies redemptions (booya!) and sales where you want that 10% back on your account, and not your primary account holder’s!
Not sure who’s who on your account? Stop by the Front Desk and we’ll tell you who has billing on file as the primary account holder.
Member Bennies cannot be used towards…
Everything else is fair game, including…
Absolutely! If you’re purchasing a day pass or gear for a friend, we will ring in the purchase using your name at the Front Desk. Attaching the purchase to your account at our point of sale ensures we use your Bennies and keep your pal’s slate clean!
Log into Pebble on your phone, selecting “More” through the bottom menu. Navigate to The Front Climbing Club section and select “Front Member Bennies” to see your balance.
If you don’t see The Front Climbing Club’s section in the app, you’ll need to follow any of our Gyms in app, navigate back to the “More” section, and click “Connect Your Front Account.” The app will prompt you for your barcode (the number on your check-in key tag) and your birthday.
No; if you remain an active or frozen member, your Member Bennies will not expire. Member Bennies void on membership termination and expiration.
No, Member Bennies can only be earned after linking your Pebble account and are not rewarded retroactively. If you earned a badge prior to the launch of Member Bennies, you cannot receive Bennies for that badge. Don’t worry, there are plenty of Bennies and Badges out there. Get bounty hunting!
No, Member Bennies are for active members. Punch Cards do not qualify.
Bennies may take up to 24 hours to appear in your account after completing an activity or earning a badge. If you’re continuing to have trouble after a one-day delay, reach out to membership@thefrontclimbingclub.com for assistance.
No, Bennies are not transferable. While they can be used to purchase a day pass for a friend, they cannot be transferred to or combined with another active member. This means no Bennie pooling with a pal for a big purchase. Save ‘em up!
No, Member Bennies are attached to each member’s independent profile, so everyone has the chance to earn and redeem Bennies. There is no way to combine Bennies.
If you would prefer most Bennies to funnel to the primary account holder, you can invoice all purchases to the running tab charge for your family membership. This will allot all cash back to the primary account holder’s balance but will not move activity rewards (like Bennies for earning belay tags and logging climbs) to the primary account holder. Those will remain with the members who completed the activity.
Not sure who’s who on your account? Stop by the Front Desk and we’ll tell you who has billing on file as the primary account holder.
Yes, and more! What we used to call Retail Credits are now a part of Member Bennies. This program expands rewards beyond cash back.
Yes! Our Gym Staff can manually search for your Bennie Balance in times of need.
Pebble Pyramids give Bennies based on “leveling up.” If you only fill the Pyramid with yellow dots but never jump to blue or green dots, Bennies will not be sent.
No, Pebble badges (and any associated Bennies) can only be earned once.
This month, we're pausing Retail Highlights for our Gear-age Sale!
Gear-age sale items are sold as-is, with no warranties or returns. See manufacturers instructions.
Look at an entire problem before getting on the wall. This ensures the route doesn’t intersect with another climber’s route and helps to avoid running into someone already on the wall.
When on the wall, stay at least an arm’s length away from others and outside of their fall zones. Again, this is helped by looking at the routes other climbers are on before getting on the wall. Problems overlap and one problem may end directly above where another begins. Stay out of the fall zone!
Down climb a boulder problem, when possible. Every fall is a ground fall, so reduce the potential impacts by downclimbing rather than jumping off, when possible. If you do jump, please check underneath you to make sure no one is in your fall zone. There is no way to guarantee a safe fall while bouldering, but techniques have been developed over the years that may mitigate some injury risks. Attempt to fall in a controlled manner and use the following general falling guidelines:
Do not climb barefooted.
Do not wear climbing shoes into the bathroom.
Minimize chalk usage by shaking excess chalk in the chalkbag, not blowing it into the air. Better yet – give liquid chalk a try!
In the route climbing area, place water bottles and other personal items next to the wall, not in the middle of the floor.
The dot at the base of a route serves as a general guideline for what to expect. Like many other gyms, The Front’s grading system is intentionally broad to compensate for the individuality of climbing grades. The dots are present to guide one’s time in the gym, not impose a judgement of climbing ability.
The Front uses a dot system to mark the difficulty level of a route. Generally, yellow is the easiest, blue is intermediate, green is experienced, pink is advanced, red is expert and black is hard… Yoda hard. The dots are placed at the beginning of each route and often indicate the starting hold. Posters in each climbing area will tell you how hard the ratings are numerically for both bouldering and roped climbing.
Once you choose a route to climb, follow the color of the starting hold(s) to the top of the climb. Using all of the same color holds to mark a route makes it easier to follow and is more environmentally friendly than taping underneath every single hold.
We have over 350 roped routes across all of our gyms, and reset all of them every ten weeks – that’s the fastest resetting in the Wasatch!
You can leave feedback on individual climbs on the Pebble Climbing app, or you can leave general feedback on the Route Setting form found on the Contact Us page.
Yes! We believe assisted braking devices (ABDs) are an important step forward in the evolution of climbing gear. ABDs provide an extra function to the belay device, that if used properly can help reduce the chances of a belay failure. (An example of an ABD is Petzl’s GriGri.)
Yes! You must pass our top-rope belay test if you are top-roping and our auto belay test if you’d like to auto belay. You must pass our lead climb and lead belay test if you would like to lead climb.
You are required to wear our harness tags when in the rope climbing area if you pass the tests.
Don’t worry if you don’t know how to belay or lead climb, or if you haven’t done it in a while. We offer top-rope orientation classes and lead classes. Learn more about climbing classes here.
Our bouldering walls reach up to 17 feet high. The tallest section of the roped walls is 70 feet high at Salt Lake City! Other roped sections at SLC are about 50 feet high. South Main’s roped walls are about 60 feet tall, and Ogden’s are about 40.
