Hey, everyone! I’m Archie! You’ve probably seen me around The Front, playing in the SLC courtyard or begging for scraps of your lunch (especially if you’re eating bacon).
I’m a three-year-old Heeler mix, which means I’m probably part Australian Cattle Dog, and probably part alien too. My favorite game is to steal stuff I’m not supposed to have (usually socks) and play keep away until I get caught! You might know my dad, Dustin. He owns The Front and Vertical Solutions. We spend a ton of time there, so I get to ride in the car a lot, which is another one of my favorite things.
Before Dad adopted me, my life kinda used to stink. I didn’t like living on the streets. It was cold. People were mean to me and sometimes other dogs would try to fight me. I’m a pacifist!
Thankfully, the nice humans at CAWS helped me out. When Dad first picked me up, he was just fostering me, which I think means I wasn’t supposed to stay with him forever. He’d been missing his last dog, Rumsy, and wanted another four-legged friend to keep him company. Sadly, I never got to meet Rumsy, but apparently, he was cool enough to have a whole restaurant named after him!
I really liked the way Dad smelled and scratched my head. It made me want to never leave! I knew he wouldn’t be able to resist my charm for long… especially once I pulled out what I like to call, “the move.” When he was driving me home one day, I put on my best smile, scurried up to the front seat, and put my arm on his shoulder. He couldn’t possibly part with me after that. That was back in 2019, and we’ve been best friends ever since!
I love spending time with my dad and his people friends, but sometimes I get lonely and want other pups to play with too. After months of begging Dad to finish my new and improved playground so I could hang out with my doggy friends, he says it’s finally time! Usually, if I stare at him long enough (editor’s note: with puppy dog eyes) he’ll give me what I want…
To celebrate my new dog park at SLC, I want to invite as many other pups as possible to come play with me on Wednesday September 22nd from 6pm – 8pm.
I’m gonna get all dressed up and everything!!!! You should too! Dad says we’ll have prizes for the best-dressed dogs, and I made sure he ordered enough cookies for everyone! They don’t even have chocolate or raisins in them and I promise to share…You sniff my butt; I’ll sniff yours. There will be people cookies too for your humans. CAWS is also gonna be there! I hear they’re even bringing cute pups that need homes, just like I did! So if you’re looking for a furry friend, come meet some adoptable dogs and see if one steals your heart. You can also support CAWS by joining our Impact Coalition and donating as little as $1 a month with your membership dues. It makes a big difference for doggos like me!
Don’t forget, September 22nd, 2021 (in human years) from 6pm – 8pm at the SLC gym! No cats allowed!!
