Winter Is Coming

Put away your quickdraws – it’s time for your other favorite sports of the year to kick off! We’re talking hockey, curling, biathlon…or maybe just ski and snowboard, for all you powder hounds.

If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably started at least one ski season a little, ahem, underprepared. If you’re familiar with the early season wipeouts, lunchtime crashouts, and muscles that are oh-so-sore, you aren’t alone. We’ve all been there and have good news: it doesn’t have to be that way. Make this year your best season yet with…

Specialty Winter Sports Classes

Your favorite Group Fitness classes are coming out of retirement this month at all three Front locations. Roll up to get in on Winter Sports Strength and Conditioning, where a certified shredder will take you through the cardio, lifts, and stretches to take on the baddest of bad ass runs this year. This can be the year to start (or finish!) ticking off lines in The Chuting Gallery…or at least win your crew’s Game of G.N.A.R.

Classes not your style? Get a direct line to your own private instructor who speaks all mountain, all the time (like our split boarder extraordinaire and ski & snowboard conditioning expert, Erin Storck!)

Cozy Layers

If you aren’t warm on the mountain, it ruins the whole day. Keep your buns toasty and your runs speedy with the best threads in the biz. We’re talking…

Mid-layers and Fleece

This is what really helps insulate you on the mountain: layers, layers, layers. Try on fleeces from Freefly, jackets from Ripton, and classic Patagonia R1 from our Gear Shop – a high-quality fleece is worth every penny. Soft, super warm, and something you won’t catch us on the mountain without.

Shells

Gore-Tex, DWR coated, or something proprietary…no matter what your shell is coated with, we’re on team waterproof or bust. Thrift one from other local shops like Wonderland Gear Exchange or The Gear Room, give it a fresh rainproofing with Nikwax, and full send in the snow!

Socks

Cold toes can be a day ender in the elements. Protect your tootsies with a thick, wooly, sock to stay warm and dry in your boots. Our pick is Darn Tough on this one, also available in our Gear Shop, with cushion of course!

Gear isn’t everything, but boy does it help. Whether you’re shopping with us or somewhere else local, we’re on your side to find the best of the best. Ask our Gym Staff for advice the next time you’re in – we’ve tried a ton of gear and have a whole bunch of opinions on it!

Self Care

After the training (so helpful) and the gear (nice to have), the self-care portion of winter sports season is non-negotiable. It can be tough out there, folks. Keep yourself on the bright side, rested up, and relaxed as you can be in the season’s darkest days. Whether that’s hitting our saunas, treating yourself to a little aprés treat from Rumsy’s cafe (pumpkin chai, anyone?) or popping into a restorative yoga class: we have all the recovery tools you need to really take care of yourself.
